Creating connections is a crucial element of the human experience. No matter what happens in life or how dark it seems, there is always hope. Resilience is not genetic – anyone can not only survive but thrive. Sometimes we need to focus on what’s important in life, such as the people with whom you surround yourselves, what makes you happy, integrity … My books abound with strong women, a little suspense, multi-generational family – both blood and chosen – timely issues and timeless topics. Let yourself get carried away by a story and replenish your soul …

My whole life has been about making a difference. Now, I left the corporate world behind and chose to focus on the next Act of my life: novelist. In my previous Acts, I have always been a writer. As a child, teenager, and young adult, I wrote short stories, poetry, novellas, and novels. As an adult, I’ve worked in politics (began my career at the White House), as a journalist, then in the corporate world….
The first, damaged by the fire set to cover her mother’s brutal murder, was not beyond repair, but her father and grandfather had bulldozed it anyway. Not that she could blame them, looking at it from an adult perspective. Who would have wanted to buy a “murder house?” But from her reasoning as a child, it had been home, and she had wanted to go back there. Back to where the master bedroom smelled like her mother’s faint citrus perfume, where the scent of crisp linen permeated the first floor from the laundry room, where her dad’s tools hung neatly on the garage walls and the cement had faint oil stains, where she sat on the countertop and her mother pretended to let her stir the cookie dough, and where her mother and father had gathered her between them in their arms and loved her, loved one another...
“Why are you doing this? You don’t need [her]; you could have had me,” she said, the vitriol evident. She knew she was more attractive … her mother had told her that for years. “You? You’re a child,” [he] laughed at her protestations. “You, bella, pale in comparison to [her]. No, I need the challenge of breaking a woman. You are no challenge at all. You would be putty in any man’s hands. That is not interesting to me.”
“This isn’t club business. It’s personal,” Hal attempted lamely as she dropped into the chair in front of the desk. “Club is family, Hal, you know that. Personal includes family, in case you’ve forgotten,” James made his point. Halley was already sorting through what she would and would not divulge. Nothing about the fiancé. It was bad enough she had to contend with it; the embarrassment would be too much. “From the beginning, start when you accepted the San Francisco job,” James prodded. With eyes shut, she launched into her story, watching it unfold again behind her eyes.
Many of us have moments where we wonder if we measure up. Are we strong enough? Are we enough?
Get carried away in a world that leads you down a suspenseful path of betrayal, hard truths, wisdom, and the type of family that comes through.
Young, uber-achieving professional Halley McCarthy slinks back to her small-town Michigan roots in shame when her carefully constructed life blows up. Her employer, a San Francisco tech startup for which she left New York, is under federal investigation for fraud; its executives are accused of embezzlement and two of the partners disappear; her ex-fiancé turns out to be a creep; and soon a colleague is killed, bringing back painful memories of her mother’s long-ago, unsolved murder. Her closest comfort comes in talking to her dead grandparents and her mother at their graves.
As anonymous threats begin to find her halfway across the country, it becomes clear that Halley herself is in grave danger. She realizes, reluctantly, that her secrets must be shared with her family—both blood and chosen—and its motorcycle club dynasty. She fights to maintain control over her unspooling circumstances as the club rallies around her, calling upon its in-house security business and resident cyber-sleuth to find answers as the feds and her stalker close in. A violent showdown not only reveals the betrayal of someone close but ties her mother’s murder to the startups’ woes and Halley’s sudden change in fortune.
In her new vulnerability, will Halley learn that there are many ways for success to be measured; that big minds can also be found in small towns; that life-changing opportunities exist everywhere, if you know where to look; and that big jobs don’t always equal happiness? In the protective arms of her family’s motorcycle club, she carves out a new, more satisfying life, including the possibility of new love. The road is rough but character is strength, and discovering what makes one happy, well, that may be the biggest success of all.

Michelle Morris’ voice and ability to make characters come alive is amazing! You not only can identify with these people and their lives but they often remind you of folks from your own life because they are so REAL…Keep reading her books. You won’t be disappointed.
This book offers something for everyone! The captivating storytelling keeps you hooked from beginning to end. The characters feel relatable and familiar, making it easy to connect with them. After reading a few of Michelle’s books, this one stands out as my favorite!
Author Michelle S. Morris beautifully weaves together a story filled with heart and wisdom. In her novel Comes Around, a small-town woman leaves behind the limitations of her hometown, chasing her dreams out in the world beyond. But her promising career is shattered as her fiancée’s betrayal leads to danger and disillusionment. In her despair, she is forced to return home and discovers the people who had truly been on her side all along were the ones she had left behind.
Michelle Morris promises to be a prolific literary force, and I am excited to see Comes Around first out of the gate. The Michigan setting of this thriller, where one might least expect to find thrills, is perfect, as is its pacing: I always regretted setting it down and looked forward to picking it back up. The family imperative shines brilliantly throughout: the family is winsome, the anti-family is villainous. Our heroine Hal has us from the beginning despite her anti-family attitude, and her arching and inevitable plunge back into her family unfolds beautifully. Read Comes Around and come back for what will surely be a brilliant career!
